Live a Life Worth of Your Calling

After three chapters of Doctrine in the book of Ephesians, in chapter four Paul tells us that because of it all; because of our blessings and what God and Jesus have done for us, there is something we should do. "Live a life worthy of the calling we have recieved."

To do this, Paul says we have to be completely humble and gentle; patient, bearing with one another in love. We should make every effort to keep peace, to use the gifts He gave us, to speak the truth in love and grow to be like Christ.

Wonderful Prayer from Ephesians

Ephesians 1:17 – 18 is a wonderful prayer to pray every day. Instead of Paul saying this is what he’s praying for the Ephesians; pray it for yourself!

Ask God to “give me the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that I may know Him better. I pray also that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened in order that I may know the hope to which He has called me, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints.”

What Has God Blessed Us With?

Continuing on in Ephesians. Chapter 1 verse 3 says that God has “blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Again going to my application Bible, it says this means that in Christ we have all the benefits of knowing God: chosen for salvation, being adopted as His children, forgiveness, insight, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, power to do God’s will, the hope of living forever with Christ. Because we have a relationship with Christ we can enjoy these blessings now, but they are also eternal.

Faithful in Christ Jesus

I've been trying to read the book of Ephesians everyday for a month. I had heard somewhere that if a Christian does that it will change him. I've taught this book before and studied it at various times, but every time, something new speaks to me.

In Chapter 1 verse 1 Paul wrote "To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus." My application Bible says "faithful in Jesus" is a great reputation to have. "What an honor for a believer to be described that way. What would it take for others to characterize you as faithful in Christ Jesus? Hold fast to your faith, one day at a time; faithfully obey God, even in the details of life. Then, like the Ephesians, you will be known as a person who is faithful to the Lord."
